Nigeria’s Odion Ighalo thought his brace had won it for Changchun Yatai but his Ghanaian opponent Frank Acheampong’s last-gasp goal ensured Tianjin Teda picked a point after a thrilling 3-3 draw in the Chinese Super League on Saturday.
Ighalo hit the opener in the 11th minute with teammate Yan Zhiyu also making it 2-0 on 25 minutes.
Tianjin Teda, who were without injured Mikel Obi, managed to reduce the deficit through Brazilian Jonathan da Silva in the 32nd minute before going ahead to restore parity eight minutes into the second half.
Ighalo registered his second with a penalty in the 65th minute and extended his season tally to 20 goals in 25 games.
But Yatai who had been reduced to 10 men due to Jie Sun’s red card, were dealt a huge blow when Acheampong popped up in stoppage time to share the spoils at the Tianjin Olympic Sports Centre.
Frank Acheampong’s goal also saw him take his goal tally this season to 15.
